Warm Up to Winter Hand Care

Give Your Clients a “Hand” this Season!

Winter is here from coast to coast, from the snowy avenues of New York to the rainy skies of southern California and every state in between. Whether it’s brutal cold, biting winds, damp chill, sunny ski slopes, or even dry indoor heat, conditions are not favorable for soft, smooth, hydrated, comfortable hands.

As a beauty professional, you wash your hands frequently every day, and know firsthand (sorry!) how the elements of winter can give you rough, red, chapped skin.

Here are some tips for you to share with your clients, that both of you can use.

Avoid overly hot water when washing your hands, and be sure to dry hands thoroughly (don’t forget to dry under your rings, where moisture can get caught and cause skin irritation). Then, slather hands with a heavy-duty lotion or cream designed to moisturize and help soothe. Repeat each time you wash.

The perfect choice to help transform dry, severely overworked hands is rich, soothing Avoplex High-Intensity Hand & Nail Cream. Intense care for hands in need of serious repair, Avoplex High-Intensity is packed with protein peptides; a luxuriously hydrating blend of Shea, Cocoa, Avocado, and Almond butters; and OPI’s Advanced Avocado Lipid Complex.

This miracle worker hydrates, nourishes, and protects, while helping to increase skin elasticity and nail flexibility – and is the ideal finishing cream for salon services and the perfect retail item for use between salon visits.

For a really deep moisturizing treatment at home, pamper your hands overnight. Massage in hand cream just before bed and slip on a pair of thin white cotton gloves to seal in the moisture all night long. The next morning, you’ll wake up to softer, more supple hands (this also works on feet with a product like shea-butter-enriched Feet by OPI Double Coverage lotion and a pair of white cotton socks).

Carry a travel-size hand lotion in your purse for on-the-go hydration and soothing. And to keep winter-parched cuticles soft and soothed, check out Avoplex Cuticle Oil to Go. This thick gel formula replenishes essential moisture to dry, cracked cuticles with antioxidant Vitamin E plus Avocado, Sunflower, Sesame, and Kukui Nut oils. The leak-proof, go-anywhere tube with soft-touch brush fits in pocket or purse, and is a great salon retail item, especially at this time of year.

Finally, you might want to consider adding a deep-moisture manicure service to your salon menu, using a Manicure/Pedicure by OPI Mask for ultra hydration.

Happy 2009!
