The start of a new year is always exciting, even with economic uncertainties. As you begin 2009, remember that a true professional, regardless of their industry, continues to hone their skills and stay on top of changes in the marketplace. In an effort to help our members and the industry as a whole do just that, the Professional Beauty Association (PBA) has launched three new programs to help ensure 2009 will be a success.
The PBA CareerCenter | probeauty.org/careers
PBA’s brand new job board, the PBA CareerCenter, is a great online resource for making employment connections in the beauty industry. For job seekers, PBA’s CareerCenter is the ideal place to be seen by employers specifically looking for beauty industry professionals. Job seekers can post resumes, search jobs, apply online and set up search agents to provide automatic email notifications whenever a posted job fits their criteria. Plus, all job-seeker functionality is free!
Industry employers, from salons and schools to manufacturers and distributors, can target their advertising to recruit the skilled candidates they’re looking for—and spend less time doing it!
PBA members receive one free job posting annually and discounted member rates on additional listings.
The PBA Leadership Network | probeauty.org/leaders
This new program is dedicated to helping rising PBA members become well-rounded leaders of the beauty industry through networking and advanced education. Led by a group of member volunteers, the PBA Leadership Network focuses on networking and business-building skills through gatherings at industry events, the online Leadership Network Forum and quarterly networking calls/webinars.
Nomination forms are distributed to PBA member companies each January and February, with a deadline of February 28, 2009. A new class of 25 members will be selected to join PBA’s Leadership Network in April!
PBA’s Beauty University | probeauty.org/beautyu | Knowledge is Beautiful.
Launching in mid January, PBA will offer an online learning center in 2009! With everything from downloadable tools, standardized courses and live webinars, Beauty U is the new source for beauty business education 24-7. Beauty U provides easy-to-use, supplemental education for manufacturers, distributors, retail beauty stores, salons and spas as well as their staff.
PBA is excited to start 2009 off with a bang and we hope these new programs will make your new year that much better!
